Solutions for light bladder leakage are available for women in the Chicago suburbs and other IL cities

Bladder control problems are experienced by millions of women. Up to one-third of all women experience light bladder leakage at some point or another. This problem does not occur in a single stereotypical situation, but may affect a woman of any age for a variety of reasons. The way in which light bladder leakage occurs and why is different for each of our patients from the Chicago suburbs and other IL cities.

Solutions for light bladder leakage

While every woman is affected differently by light bladder leakage, there are certain triggers that have been identified as factors for an increased risk of this problem. These include:

  • Changes to the reproductive organs as a result of hysterectomy, pregnancy and childbirth, or menopause
  • Frequent or recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Excess weight
  • Certain irritants in the diet
  • Health conditions such as stroke or multiple sclerosis, which affect the integrity of muscle movements

Light bladder leakage is a form of urinary incontinence. When assessing patients to find a solution to the unexpected expression of urine, Dr. Gandhi may identify the problem as either stress or urge incontinence, or possibly a combination of the two. Stress incontinence occurs when urine escapes under pressure such as coughing or laughing. Urge incontinence is the condition in which a woman develops a strong urge to urinate due to bad timing in muscle contractions in the bladder.

A simple, convenient solution to light bladder leakage

Light bladder leakage may sound inconsequential but, in reality, this condition can be very distressing and even confusing. Because very small amount of urine may be unwittingly released, there may be very little need, if any, for medical intervention. Standard panty liners may seem like the ideal solution for such a mild problem.

The issue with the use of the standard panty liner for light bladder leakage is that this product is not designed to handle the watery consistency of urine. Panty liners, instead, are made to absorb light, more viscous fluids from the vagina. It is for this reason that women attempting to manage light bladder leakage with a standard panty liner may continue feeling uncomfortable and “wet.” This option also has the potential, due to a lack of adequate absorbency, to cause irritation to the delicate skin on the vulva.

Women affected by light bladder leakage are far better served with liners designed specifically for this purpose. The bladder control liner can absorb several times more fluid than a panty liner, improving comfort and decreasing the likelihood of irritation.
