Loose Vagina

Patients visiting Dr. Gandhi with complaints of diminished sexual satisfaction and incontinence may be dealing with a loose vagina. A loose vagina can be caused by childbirth or age. This condition may cause sexual concerns in which the vagina is too relaxed to allow a woman to reach orgasm or to pleasure her partner. A loose vagina can also result in many real medical conditions that can be fixed with a vaginal tightening procedure, or vaginoplasty. Situations may also occur in which a patient may experience pelvic organ prolapse or urinary incontinence that can affect their daily lifestyle.

Dr. Gandhi of Partners in Pelvic Health North Shore Urogynecology offers treatments for loose genital muscles. Before opting for surgery, patients should consider the benefits of non-invasive treatment options. The vagina may be tightened through exercise and pelvic floor stimulation. When done regularly, this can help improve sexual experiences and reduce the time it takes to achieve orgasm.

However, there are times in which these exercises cannot help. When all other avenues have been attempted, patients become a viable candidate for vaginal tightening. Vaginoplasty is a procedure that can be completed to alleviate the problems associated with a loose vagina. Patients who have had this procedure done report that they are experiencing better satisfaction during sex, are able to provide the tightness needed to pleasure their partner during sex, and see an improvement in bladder control and function. This is due to the tightening of the muscles that help support better bladder function.

Patients considering a vaginoplasty should be done bearing children, as the results of the surgery are diminished with future vaginal deliveries. The procedure would need to be completed again after childbirth to restore the tightness.

Vaginoplasty can be done to address a medical condition and/or improve the look of the genitals. Cosmetically, patients may be unhappy with the physical appearance of their labia and outer vaginal skin and may want to consider addressing this. Dr. Gandhi of Partners in Pelvic Health North Shore Urogynecology can discuss with patients the benefits of a vaginoplasty and complete a full examination to determine if they are proper candidates for this procedure.
