Bladder Pain

Many patients don’t think much about their bladder until they experience problems. Dr. Gandhi sees many women every day who visit his practice to address bladder pain and discomfort. Many medical conditions can result in bladder pain, and undergoing a thorough examination allows patients to receive a proper diagnosis for their condition to determine the best solution. Knowing the reason for the discomfort helps Dr. Gandhi make proper suggestions for treating the problem on a long-term basis.

Bladder pain and discomfort can be a sign of any of these conditions:

Interstitial Cystitis

This condition is caused by chronic pain and pressure in the bladder and pelvic region. Also known as PBS (Pelvic Bladder Syndrome), this condition can affect both children and adults, though it is primarily seen in women. Medications and behavioral therapies can help in controlling the condition and reducing bladder pain and discomfort.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections, also known as UTIs, can be troublesome and painful. Infections can cause patients to feel a burning sensation when they urinate, feel as though their bladder is always full, and can result in constant Urination – even of small quantities. Patients dealing with this condition are often uncomfortable, but can find relief by getting a proper diagnosis of the condition and using antibiotics to treat the infection.

Overactive Bladder

An overactive bladder is a condition in which patients experience the sudden urge to urinate regularly. This may cause leakage and incontinence, and may become embarrassing to an individual. While pads and liners can be used to contain the problem, behavioral therapy, medications, and even surgical interventions can assist in addressing this condition long-term.

Bladder Cancer

In severe cases, bladder cancer may be the cause for pain. Cancerous cells can form on the inner lining of the bladder and cause chronic discomfort. With early diagnosis, this can be treated with higher success rates.
