Non-surgical procedures offered to Woodstock, IL area patients by local urogynecology practice
Patients in the Woodstock, IL area who are seeking assistance from a urogynecology practice to improve their pelvic health often speak with Dr. Gandhi. At the Partners in Pelvic Health North Shore Urogynecology, we believe everyone has the ability to lead an active, healthy lifestyle, even if gynecological concerns exist. We provide thorough diagnosis of many pelvic conditions and can offer solutions, both surgical and non-surgical, for many of them. A few of the non-surgical procedures offered through our Woodstock, IL area practice:
Bladder instillations
Patients struggling with interstitial cystitis (IC) or those who experience consistent pain and discomfort in the pelvic region may benefit from a procedure called bladder washing, also referred to as bladder instillations.
Botox injections
Patients who have been diagnosed with an overactive bladder may benefit from Botox injections. While these have been used for many years for cosmetic purposes, it has been used even longer for medical concerns. Botox reduces muscle contractions where it is injected, so treatment in the pelvic area can reduce the activity of an overactive bladder.
Electrical stimulation
Patients with weak pelvic floor concerns may benefit from electrical stimulation to tighten and strengthen the muscles in the pelvic area for better function and control.
Tibial nerve stimulation
Patients with an overactive bladder or detrusor over activity may learn more about PTNS (percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation) which uses a special electrode needle to pulsate the tibial nerve (the nerve that controls bladder functionality) to address their concerns in a non-invasive manner.
Kegels
Kegel exercises are recommended for patients who have weak pelvic muscles. They can be done manually or with special stimulation devices.
Pelvic rehabilitation
Patients who prefer more homeopathic remedies may prefer to speak to Dr. Gandhi about pelvic rehabilitation. This includes a variety of methods to control pelvic issues without surgery or medications. Methods can be used to control problems such as muscle weakness, overactive bladder, incontinence, constipation, and chronic pelvic pain.
Pessary
This special device is used to hold the pelvic organs in place. It is removable and it should be cleaned regularly to reduce the risk of infection. This can be done by patients or during regular visits to Dr. Gandhi.
Patients in and around the areas of Park City, Lake Forest, Woodstock and Chicago Suburbs are encouraged to contact his practice to schedule a consultation appointment and examination.
