Vaginal Vault Suspension

Vaginal vault prolapse may require that a patient undergo a surgical procedure called vaginal vault suspension. This surgical procedure is done by sacrocolpopexy or attachment of the uterosacral ligament. Sacrocolpopexy is a procedure that utilizes a mesh to support the vagina, and is typically performed with robotic prolapse repair devices such as laparoscopy. Uterosacral ligament attachment connects the top of the vagina to stronger ligaments in the pelvis. This treatment can be done in conjunction with a hysterectomy for patients with uterine prolapse.

Vaginal Mesh

A vaginal mesh can be used to help support the pelvic organs and keep them up where they can function at their best. This is typically surgically placed when patients are experiencing prolapsed organs or urinary incontinence.

Vaginal Prolapse Repair

When patients are experiencing uterine prolapse, their uterus is falls lower than normal and requires surgery to reposition it into the appropriate location. This can also address urinary incontinence and discomfort. Vaginal prolapse repair is a treatment that allows Dr. Gandhi to use vaginal vault suspension and a vaginal mesh to support the affected organ to address pelvic organ prolapse.
