Urogynecology Nonsurgical Treatments Park City IL - Woodstock

Electrical stimulation

Patients that are unable to manually contract muscles properly to assist with pelvic floor dysfunction may benefit from electrical stimulation. This causes the muscles to contract and, when used with biofeedback therapy, can be extremely beneficial for patients having difficulty tightening these muscles on demand.

Botox injections

Botox can be injected into the muscles of an overactive bladder to assist with reducing pelvic pain and to help with pelvic floor dysfunction.

Tibial nerve stimulation

For patients who have an overactive bladder and have been unable to see results after anticholinergic therapy, tibial nerve stimulation may be beneficial and can give patients marked improvements after approximately six weeks of treatment.

Kegel exercises

Muscles that support the vagina, rectum, and the bladder are necessary for maintaining pelvic floor strength and health. When patients complete Kegel exercises, they can reduce urinary incontinence and pelvic prolapse by strengthening these muscles. A pelvic floor trainer is a device that can assist patients in properly performing Kegel exercises to see effective results.

Pessaries

A pessary is a vaginal device that is used to support a prolapsed vagina, bladder, rectum, or uterus. This can be either a permanent solution to a prolapse condition or a temporary one if surgery is the treatment choice.

A proper diagnosis of the condition is required before the team at Partners in Pelvic Health North Shore Urogynecology can assist you in deciding the best treatment plan for you, whether it is surgical or non-surgical.
